Noob question about drops?
I'm a wow player, I had GWs since it came out but never really played it to much.. I'm planning to get more into it but I wanted to know if there are good weapon and armor drops or for the best stuff do you have to get them crafted?
Is there a site to show what and were weapons drop or what can be crafted? thx |

best site for that kind of thing: www.guildwiki.org
Drop aren't always guaranteed, you can usually get the same thing from many monsters, but it can be a handy guide. It also shows all the armour you can buy for your character, and compares them, even with pictures so you can see how it'll look. Also got some great resources on skills, quests, pvp and anything else you'd wanna know. |

This isn't your elitist type of mmorpg (though there are people that have an elitist attitude about the game, you'll find out when you try to group or play pvp). By that I mean that you can have pretty much the best of anything if you just play out the story and maybe do a little farming for some resources. There's only 20 levels max and you can be that within a week to a month depending on your play time.
This is more of a PVP type game with a PVE story, and there's plenty of collector npc's out there to provide you with gear for just some common resources off of mobs throughout the game. Weapons are static by their catagories. Axes 6-28 max, Swords 15-22 max, Bows 14-28 max, wands and staffs 11-22 max, hammers 19-35 max. The only differences to these maxes are pct increase to damage which is normally 15% and if you customize the weapon then an extra 20% total of 35% extra damage save for the +20% weapons when your health is less than 50% which you can customize also. There's no neat haste weapons or items like in say an EQ, though there are skills that you can use that help you attack faster. But, upgrade mods for weapons aren't plentiful, though sufficient. On most weapons you can apply two upgrades/mods, some already come with some on them, some you can change both or just one. You can also buy weapons from weaponsmith npc's at various towns throughout the game, of course the futher you get in the game story the better the weapons and armor. As I said this game is predominantly about PVP so a lot is balanced and samey. It's not unusual for many people to have the same weapons and the same gear, though there are some places where you can get armor to LOOK better that costs a couple of million plat BUT it is NO BETTER in STATS than armor that costs 1500gp. It's merely a vanity thing, nothing that makes you better. Same with weapons, though they have different LOOKS once you reach that +15% damage level there's nothing better no matter what it LOOKS like. (except of course the +20% < 50% health). This game is mostly about skills and each character can have up to 150 skills although you'll only ever be able to use 8 at a time, kinda paultry considering how many skills you have to pick from. And even these become samey as you'll find out the carbon copy templates that people have found on the internet or from someone within the game. My suggestion is play out the full game without rushing, meaning don't be coaxed into bypassing any of the content. Cause once it's over it's basically over and all you'll have left is farming or playing the same content over with another character or jumping into the repetitive pvp play (if people will let you join a group or you can create one of your own). Someone else can give you links to sites about the weapons and where they drop. But, if you want the full effect of the adventure and excitement of finding what you find I would suggest not using these sites until you've completed the game at least once. Also if you are going to group with others, be sure an ask them if they are running it or fighting through it. You'll miss out a lot if you get in running groups. |
